Paris, France (6th-9th September 2008)

Finally we could make a trip which we were planning to have since long.

We left in the morning...and we almost thought we wouldn't be able to make it.

We had a flight at 7:00 am, we had done online check--in so we thought 5:20 am taxi will be fine as that will make us reach by 6:00 am. but as usual we were late in walking up. So taxi came n went back n then we kept waiting for a taxi and thought we have almost missed the flight...so what now !!!

Then after many calls , fortunately we got a taxi at 6:00 am and we reached just on-time for flight... so Paris here we come !!! yuppy...!!

Now comes the other hillarious situation, as till last moment we had not been able to decide on hotel, we reached there without a hotel booking. I wanted to stay in central n ashit thought we will get good deal near to Air-port n bottom line is Ashit won on that !!

NotreDams

So as soon as we reached, first place we visited was Notro dames...with all the luggage in hand...hahaha

I must say it's amazing...i liked the glass work in Notre dams cathedral.

From there we went back hotel, placed luggage in room, got fresh and then again left for a day.
Then we were on the way of famous Montemarte... We were asking for directions and then when surprised the way people looked at us.... so then we took out the map and showed the place we want to go...n then there was a cheer...ohh you want to go to "MM" ohh so thats what they called it ;) ...anyway but we got our direction :)

Montemarte , Sacre Couer - what an amazing mix of culture, architecture and ambiance. It is really beautiful. There was a live statue and live music and it was superb.

From Montemarte we went to Champs Elysées, this section of Paris includes thePalais de L'Elysées, the Grand Palais, and the Petit Palais. But now we were walking and walking , and entry to places had started getting closed as it was nearing 5.00 pm. But whole area was so beautiful, we decided to have a walking view and then to be back next day. So we walked almost whole area and then started feeling tired...so we thought now lets be to main attraction of Paris, The Eiffel Tower !!! As no more we could kept walking.

Ohh so now we can see Eiffel..... and let me tell you...my first expression wasn't that ohh how beautiful... but yeah it converted that way only on the later part of the day when had a night view of the tower. It's too beautiful with lighting. Okey okey that was later but before that as we reached to Eiffel there was a long line for tickets...and we were dead tired. It would take 2-3 hours for us to get there tickets and we didn't feel like standing in queue, so we crossed the road and headed for river cruise. Whole day i had kept telling Ashit that i want to go for a Seine cruise at night... i had heard a lot about it and so we would do cruise at night...and so it was almost 8:00 pm so we thought perfect time !!!

We sat on the open dock ( As Ashit wanted that, otherwise i was preferring inside glass so that it is not that cold, but it proved to be a nice decision as we could have a better view, better time), and it was great. And then was the time when we saw Eiffel with blue lights ;) haha

Well whole Paris looked just fabulous at night while sailing in river. And now i understood why it is said most romantic place.

Now was the time to be back hotel, rest enough and recover energies for next day ahead !!! While on the way back hotel, we grabbed the one of most famous eatery of France, Crapes ( one with cheese, one with lime ). It is very similar to our pancacks but it was delicious. Must try when you go to France ;)

Sunday half of the day we spent at Louve Museum. Musee de Louvre - is the world's most visited art museum, a historic monument, and a national museum of France.

Its big and you just keep walking to different levels and rooms. We visited just two parts of that out of three.

As we had promised ourselves, we were back to Champs Elysees. The Champs Elysées has a "movie scene" quality that continues to enchant visitors to the City of Light.  You may find a smile on your face and a song in your heart as you stroll  along the world's most famous avenue.

After spending some time there we headed to Arc de Triomphe.

The Arc de Triomphe stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the Place de l'
Étoile. It honors those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. On the inside and the top of the arc there are all of the names of generals and wars fought. Underneath is the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War I.

Then in the later part of the day from there we went to Eiffel again and this time made to the top of that. it was really awesome....to have a look at whole Paris and the wind blowing us away with it!!

Monday we spent at Disney World.

Tuesday we spent at Versailles.

It was a hot hot day and we were really annoyed carrying our jackets. After visiting the palace we went to Versailles palace gardens...which are the biggest of all i have ever seen... n then it suddenly started raining.

Then there were guards announcing it's closed and there is heavy rain fore-cast so we were back to station by 4:30.

We went to Saint Chappel from there and unfortunately we made at closing hour when entry was only available to those with museum pass as entrance ticket window was already closed.

Then suddenly we realised in visiting all places we had missed shopping.... !! so we took the metro and reached to lafayette.

So that was almost end of our Paris trip.

We took a night flight, which was late by 1 hour due to rains... n so we reached back Netherlands at 12.00 midnight and went to bed around 1:00-1:30 am....and then back to the work next morning...oooops i know ..it was so tiring to be back to work but memories of the visit were never tiring ;) !!!
